Eight is (never) enough...
When it came time for a kitchen remodel this family of eight and growing needed functionality and beauty. With six growing teenagers and young adults coming home often the homeowners routinely have a dozen or more for a family dinner. The large mahogany island has become the centerpiece of the home, with plenty of space behind for traffic and access to the refrigerator and pantry area. A combination kitchen cabinet and dining room hutch with cabinets on the kitchen and dining room side serves as a pass-through for those large gatherings as well as a beautiful piece for dining room linens and tableware. A long row of cabinetry along the sink wall needed dimension so the sink was pulled out and columns were added to either side for an added design element. The beverage area with glass cabinet and wine fridge below serves as a helpful station for entertaining without being in the way of the cook.
